I was shocked to find I'm actually decent at Risk (the board game.) Before I've always played with many friends, and when you play domination it's rather difficult... But, on playing the last several times, with just my friend and once also my mom, I've found I'm decent at strategy. I also managed to keep a straight face and tricked them into thinking that I wasn't turning in cards once, and then again that I was going to when I actually couldn't! That was exciting because I have a horrible tendency to give myself away. I didn't win, but my friend and I have a theory that the person who goes first wins unless they make some terrible mistake. My biggest problem? My friend and I like to "find out what would happen" if we used such and such a strategy, so sometimes we end up helping each other just to see the result. This is not a winning attitude, but it's very good for learning. I think we started doing that because we learned to play Go together and that was the best way to learn what does and does not work, what areas are worth fighting over and in which battles one simply comes out even. Fun times.
